EY Sustainability – Renergen CEO Stefano Marani on the benefits of natural gas production

Stefano Marani is the CEO of Renergen, an emerging integrated renewable energy producer in South Africa.

Marani was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley for over five years before becoming a Partner at Kigeni Holdings in 2009. He then became the CEO of Tetra4, a natural gas producer that provides sustainable, clean energy solutions, in 2014.

Marani took on his current CEO role at Renergen, Tetra4’s parent company one year later.

In this EY Sustainability interview, Marani joins Michael Avery to discuss the benefits of natural gas production in South Africa – such as how it can drive economic growth. Marani unpacks Renergen’s remarkable journey from discovering helium reserves almost a decade ago to becoming South Africa’s only natural gas provider today.

Kinetiko Energy “getting real” heading into 2023 as drilling points to new reserves

Kinetiko Energy Ltd’s (ASX:KKO) chief executive Nick de Blocq tells Thomas Warner about his plans to ramp up Kinetiko’s operations dramatically during the new year.

“The market is wide open” for the gas Kinetiko is drilling for at its project areas in South Africa, he says, with great opportunities in areas adjacent to the current sites.

One new hole, ER270, is especially exciting, he adds, as it is pointing to deeper reserves, higher pressures and greater flow rates.

Mantashe pushes for oil and gas production

JOHANNESBURG – Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe is pushing for Oil and Gas to be produced in South Africa.

The groundwork has been done.

He says the government will request proposals to explore shale gas in the Karoo. “Our transition will be sustainable if we access Oil and Gas on our shores,” he said.

“We will issue a request for proposals to explore that gas now.”

Kinetiko sets its sights on southern Amersfoort gas well after completing key core hole

The company’s next core well — 270-06C — is ready for spudding in the far south, where the well’s deeper basement broadens the potential for thicker gassy zones.

Kinetiko Energy Ltd (ASX:KKO) has closed the books on a gas and coal bed methane drilling campaign at core hole 271-23C in energy-hungry South Africa.

The energy stock hit significant gassy zones and up to 247 metres worth of gas-bearing geological sequences during the drill campaign, which intersected the hole’s targeted carbonaceous geology.
